I loved the book. There are various elements and myth arcs running through the book that I could not benefit but wonder how the director [David Yates] was going to pull it off. Well, the movie is definitely noteworthy more subdued than its predecessors, both in the effects, the violence, the employ of witchcraft, even the color palette is muted for most of the movie, conveying a sense of menace and possible doom in the confrontation between genuine and foul.

As an ardent fan of the books, and also the movies, I found this particular installment a tad underwhelming. Firstly, I was horrified that the scriptwriters felt they had to include unnecessary scenes that were not even in the book [the waitress and Harry making a date at the beginning, the burning down of the Burrow, etc]. Instead, they left out bits that were actually in the books. Even crucial account arcs, like the utilize of the Pensieve is not given enough hide time, and seems almost rushed.

So, understandably, a lot of ground work is laid out here, resulting in a dialogue heavy movie, and less than spectacular special effects [the Quidditch scene was completely underwhelming in my opinion]. The main characters, such as Harry [Daniel Radcliffe], Hermione [Emma Watson], and Ron [Rupert Grint] are also facing some serious hormone issues and relationship problems, hence the rather subdued tone. Gone are the days of easy bantering and camaraderie…the dynamics between the three have shifted to one of awkward uneasiness, as Ron and Hermione try to approach to terms with the changes in their friendship, and Harry deals with his strong attraction to Ginny Weasley. In this, I felt the actors did a stout job – the three have advance a long arrangement from their first year at Hogwarts, and have truly embraced these roles, portraying them with depth and insight.

Draco Malfoy’s role as portrayed by Tom Felton, finally gets more visibility. Draco is no longer merely glowering all the time, but deals with some valid problems that may cost him his very soul, and Felton did a credible job portraying his inner conflict. Michael Gambon is worthy as Dumbledore, relying more heavily on Harry in this legend, as he tries desperately to repeat Potions Professor Slughorn’s [Jim Broadbent]one crucial memory concerning Tom Riddle [the Murky Lord] that may befriend in their fight against the Sad Lord.

The others such as Severus Snape [Alan Rickman], Minerva McGonagall [Maggie Smith],& Hagrid [Robbie Coltrane] have less visibility this time around. It really does focus on a unprejudiced a few central characters, though Snape does play an vital role here [just that he doesn't regain as mighty conceal time as I would have liked]. All in all, it is tranquil an tantalizing sage, and I have pre-ordered the DVD. The reason I only gave it three stars is because it did not pause as faithful to the book as I would have liked, and lacked the tall large sense of wonder & magic I’ve arrive to associate with the series. This has been the darkest installment in the series thus far – so I can understand the depressing tone underlying the movie, yet, I mild feel the director could have old better colors and lightened up some aspects of the movie where appropriate. Btw, I found the bag completely underwhelming, and I really miss the fantastic acquire that was in the earlier movies [except Piece 5]. Here’s hoping Deathly Hallows Allotment I and II will fare better [also directed by David Yates].

My main gripe with the previous Harry Potter movie “Order of the Phoenix” was that for some unique reason they took the longest of the books and turned it into the shortest Harry Potter movie to date. The result was that I felt like I was watching the movie wing by on a speeding disclose, as it rushed from one key event to another without really taking the time to recognize anything in detail.

Now we follow up with “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” and….what a disagreement. There are plenty of cuts of course, no Harry Potter movie can be free of cuts without being waaaay too long. But the movie’s length was at least comparable to some of the others. The 3 lead characters were as situation on as ever. Michael Gambon finally brings a bit more warmth to his portrayal of Albus Dumbledor than he brought to the last few movies. Tom Felton played Draco Malfoy with all the depth one would hope for in his most well-known role in the series. Alan Rickman isn’t seen too distinguished as Severus Snape, but when he is he’s as astounding as ever.

I really assume this may be the best Harry Potter film yet, and I was really starting to reflect after the last film that the chronicle had gotten to ample for them to manage in film. Superior work guys.

The budding friendship between Ash and Angie (which later continues in “If the Scarf Fits…”) makes up some of this collection’s best moments, along with an belief between Ash’s newly-evolved Grotle and Paul’s Torterra (”Aiding the Enemy”), and Ash’s battle with Barry, a blindly dependable fan of Paul’s (”Barry’s Busting Out All Over!”) . Again, when did the dub rep apt?!

Okay, there are a few clunkers toward the ruin like “A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine” and the poorly-dubbed “Sleepless in Pre-Battle” (Crescelia vs. Darkrai [if you want to study Darkrai in the animé, earn the movie "The Rise of Darkrai"!]), but overall, it is absolutely worth owning.

I was a bit hesitant to inspect this film at first because romantic-love-triangle-comedies all demolish the same arrangement. Plus before the movie started, the audience was packed with high school teenagers with their cellphones. (They could litterally fiddle around with them for hours while looking seemingly busy.) But my mom insisted and I obliged. Anyways, the movie turned out to be heavenly sweet and heartwarming.

Melanie Carmichael (aka Melanie Smooter), played by Reese Witherspoon, is an up-and-coming Unusual York City fashion designer who has impartial been proposed to by Andrew (Patrick Dempsey), the mayor’s son. (Quite an impressive proposal I might add, with the Tiffany store inaugurate unprejudiced for them.) There’s only one plight, she’s tranquil legally married to Jake (Josh Lucas) in Alabama. (I particularly liked it when Melanie realizes that being married to Jake means that they peaceful have a joint legend at the local bank.) Also, I judge Reese Witherspoon gave a grand performance, and it’s always nice to peep Candice Bergan in a frenzy.

This is one of the better romantic comedies I’ve seen this year.

Yoji Yamada’s trilogy, all based on stories by Shuhei Fujisawa, are The Twilight Samurai (Tasogare Seibei) (2002), The Hidden Blade (Kakushi Ken Oni no Tsume) (2004) and Admire and Honor (Bushi no Ichibun) (2006) . They can be watched in any order. The movie is beautifully photographed and the DVD transfer is first rate. There are no extras.

LOVE AND HONOR (a.k.a. Bushi No Ichibun) is the third chambara period film by Yoji Yamada. After the two award-winning samurai films by this acclaimed director, the expectations for his third and last samurai film is extremely high. Thankfully, Yamada once again delivers; “Adore and Honor” has won numerous film awards, cementing the director’s site as one of the best chambara directors of the fresh age. “Twilight Samurai”, “Hidden Blade” and “Savor and Honor” have different storylines and characters, they all fraction the same ideals of the samurai code: Honor, Duty and Loyalty. Also, the three films have an ace in their sleeves; Family and Responsibility.

Once again, this film explores the reality of base authority figures in feudal Japan. At first impression, I thought; “Blind Samurai? Is this a Zatoichi rip-off?!” But no, the film sidesteps that impression and the director has do together an exciting narrative of human inner strength and heroism. Not unprejudiced from Mimura’s character, but also from Kayo’s character. While the first two films are partly a legend of fancy forbidden by social set, Yamada now explores the relationship of a petty samurai with his devoted wife. This is a welcome come, as it is a very admirable exertion that also delves into the loyalty and devotion of the Japanese wife during feudal times. After all, I remember the mature adage; “Leisurely every immense man is a sizable woman”. People may argue that Kayo’s character was indeed confused, that the steps she took were totally unnecessary. However, I possess the director wanted to remark the desperation of those wives during that period. Fill me, women during those days were extremely devoted to their husband. I am joyful to say that besides focusing on the samurai ideals, it also focuses on the strength of the Japanese woman. Aside from Yamada’s generous direction, the cast gives an honorable performance. Takuya Kimura has definitely matured in his acting abilities. It is difficult to play a handicapped role, let alone one who is a blind swordsman. Kimura thoroughly expresses the suppressed madden and frustration in the sequences. His performance in the duel was very convincing that I felt his scare and determination when he clashed with his opponent. The duel may be short but it had so great emotional impact that I was immersed in the footage. Rie Dan truly fit the character of the disadvantaged wife. As with the two lead female characters in “Twilight Samurai” and “Hidden Blade”, she had the warm charisma that surely represents the simple devoted wife during the Edo Period. Yoji Yamada seems to always gain the honest performers for the honest role.

Yoji Yamada has once again proven that he isn’t a “one-hit wonder”. I hope that this will not be the last chambara film he directs. While all three films have the celebrated denominators (samurai ideals) that link them together, there are subtle details in all three of his samurai films whose messages cannot be ignored. “Twilight Samurai” expresses humility and family, “Hidden Blade” expresses commitment and choices, “Treasure and Honor” effectively expresses devotion and forgiveness; all because of the power of Treasure. Yoji Yamada’s samurai trilogy is truly Fabulous!!

RahXephon is a handsome series and I highly recommend you peek it. I would rent RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio before purchasing it unprejudiced to ensure that you’ll devour it. Not a fan of “recap” episodes in anime series, I have to admit I enjoyed Pluralitas Concentio quite a bit. The DVD scores a 4.5 out of 5 while the series itself scores a 5.

I spent most of this movie trying to figure out WHY they made it. There are no especially unpleasant fresh revelations or things that made me go, “Ah, that explains such-and-such from the series.” I judge myself to be fairly skilled at plan anime, or at least letting tumble what I don’t understand. However, neither I nor my even more anime-literate friend could figure out precisely what the point of this movie was: what it added to the narrative, or what action scenes were supposed to appeal to our less quick-witted sides, or even what was supposed to be going on.

In other words, the dialogue was paunchy of technobabble and half-formed theories that were never satisfactorily explained, the action was subpar compared to the series (and you can examine most of it honest by watching the series anyway), and no serious plotholes or loose ends were resolved.

Thus, I can honestly say that I feel this movie has no special artistic merit and should be avoided. Rent it if you must, but set aside your money.

I can only conceive of two reasonable excuses to grasp this movie:

1. You are a Stout RahXephon fan. If you have the Instrumentalist signs tattooed onto your body, you qualify. And you need befriend.

2. You already fill the entire series, feel a deep need to complete your dwelling, and have $30 disposable income.

In the slay, I mediate I only liked two things about this movie: the fact that I got to spy RahXephon’s ultimate attack one more time (it really is awesome) and the ending song. Not nearly enough to amount to a worthwhile select.

The animation is trully top notch, if not heavily 70’s themed. It’s deffinately a cheesy movie, but that cheese pays off tall time in the acquire of charm, and in the raze a kind of sci-fi optimism, which is kind of nice in an age when everyone is surly, sarcastic, and irony ladden.

This movie will leave you feeling gracious, so why not consume it?

This is an anime cartoon spot to the soundtrack of Daft Punk’s “Discovery.” There are NO other words, dialogue or songs!

If you like “Discovery” and don’t particularly care about anime one intention or another, you will quiet like this movie. If you care for anime but don’t have any particular feeling about Daft Punk, you will also like the movie.

I had the original chance to preview this movie and it definitely lives up to the vast reviews that it received at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Although I really like dance workouts, I was a shrimp wary of this one, as I had heard that instructor MaDonna Grimes didn’t cue very well and that there was a lot of “take-it-from-the-top” movements, which I disfavor. So, I was pleasantly surprised to fetch that I LOVED this video! The workout basically breaks down into 3 segments: warm-up, dance routine, and cool-down (these are not chaptered on the DVD) . The 10-minute warm-up gets lawful into some basic dance steps such as the merengue, getting your heart rate up suitable away. MaDonna sometimes fails to fully interpret the movements, but my minimal experience with unbiased a few prior dance videos allowed me to follow along with no problems. There are a few itsy-bitsy jumps included in this segment, but they don’t appear until about 5 minutes into it, when you’re already well warmed up; some basic stretches enact this fraction.

During the 12-minute dance routine piece, MaDonna introduces novel moves one at a time, gradually building up to a complete dance routine. When teaching the moves, she did something I’d never seen before that I really liked: instead of teaching one segment with 3 different moves, a second segment with 3 different moves, and then stringing the two segments together (I always accept it difficult to remember the first segment), she’ll lisp 3 moves and then introduce 2 modern ones, but she combines the last depart from the first 3 with the 2 original ones (I hope this makes sense!) . This plan makes it very easy to remember the order of the moves, as you’re constantly combining the older moves that you’ve already learned with the unique moves. Even more importantly, the moves are FUN–mambos, hops, hip swings, etc.–and the time honest flew by!

The workout ends with a brief (4-minute) cool-down. I liked the neck stretches that were included here, although some people might have to be careful with these. The DVD also includes a 10-minute bonus workout for the lower body: MaDonna leads you through 4 different types of squats, performing several sets of each, and she ends with some brief standing and floor abs work. An additional DVD feature is a music-only workout option. Some people might complain that this workout is too short (about 26 minutes overall), but MaDonna packs a lot of both distress and fun into that time period, making this video perfect for anyone who wants to salvage in some like a flash, intense, yet extremely enjoybable cardio work. Highly recommended!

The first time I tried this workout, I loved it so considerable that I instantly had to do it again. On the veil of the DVD it says, ‘leaves you sweating for more’, and with regards to my experience with it so far, that is exactly what it did. It left me sweating, and wanting more!

10MIN WARMUP – This combines a few indecent impact dance moves with a few stretches. Some of the stretches are a bit ‘hmmm…’, but you only do them after you’re VERY warm. This is around 10 minutes, which is a first-rate length for a warmup. Some of the moves you learn in the warmup will be re-used in the dance fraction of the workout.

15MIN DANCE – Madonna teaches you the moves one by one, building together a longer routine. One thing that I appreciate about her teaching is that once she’s taught you a depart, she practices what I like to call ‘the transition’. Retract it easy on this fade, since I really got into it, and it was inevitable that I heard a great CRACK from my neck, oops! It looks like Madonna and one of the other girls are going hard out with this travel, but thats because their hair is long, so for your safety, don’t try to emulate them.

Genivieve is the 7th of 12 princesses. Her father calls for the Duchess Rowena to notice after them as his wife is lifeless. The duchess has plans of her enjoy, and with her strong-man servant and her monkey, she works to seize over the kingdom and come by rid of the 12 daughters. She starts by taking all the fun and colour out of their lives, trying to quash their spirit.

Genivieve, however, discovers a secret magical kingdom below the floor of their bedroom where the princesses can rush at night and dance the night away until morning. They have their dancing shoes from Eric, the Cobbler who also happens to be extremely comely and nice – and not a itsy-bitsy in adore with Genivieve. When Rowena discovers the secret stairwell she seeks to trap the princesses down there forever. But toghether they sprint, and race to set their father who Rowena is attempting to extinguish.

It is a elegant movie, there is lots of dancing which is beautifully done given there are twelve characters it is easy to effect nice chorus lines etc. 3 are runt Kelly sized girls, there are 2 teenagers and the other 7 are adult sized. There could be some confusion, luckily they are named alphabetically from A to L according to age – unfortunately many have very un=princessy names like Lacey, Hadley and Courtenay.

The animation is fine although there is an exclusive fragment of oddity in the filming. For some reason come the ruin when Genivieve is luring Desmond away from his post she seems to go out of focus slightly, it might be my particular player.

There are some nice extra features, the making of the movie is profitable and my children were fascinated by it.

I really like the toning down of colours. The castle and environs looked colourful without the overwhelming brightness of some of the earlier movies.

Overall this is a sizable fun movie which my children have enjoyed a number of times and I also enjoyed. It can be watched many times and tranquil regain something unique. I honest hope that the Barbie makers will be working on another singing movie. the Princess and the Pauper peaceful rates as the top Barbie movie ever – the songs were inspired and fun. My only actual gripe on this movie is the astronomical number of merchandise from this – 12 characters!

Before we first rented one of the Barbie videos for my daughter, I was expecting them to be trite, over-commercialised, and over-sugary. However, I have been pleasantly surprised.

Yes, they do have a lot of commercial spin-offs and a high saccarine count, but the quality of the Barbie films we have subsequently bought or rented, including “12 Dancing Princesses,” was significantly higher than I had expected. They have not objective kept my children engrossed for hours – including my son as well as my daughter – but introduced them to some resplendent stories and truly extraordinary music. On more than one occasion I have been listening to a CD of a classic such as Beethoven’s pastoral symphony, or The Queen of the Night’s aria from Mozart’s magic flute, and my daughter has recognised and expressed appreciation of the music, and correctly remembered which Barbie film had primitive it. (”Magic of Pegasus” and “Mermaidia” respectively.)

The soundtrack to “Twelve Dancing Princesses” is mostly adapted from some of Mendelsohn’s best work, including “A Midsummer night’s dream” and the Scottish and Italian symphonies. It also includes a lullaby sung to the King by the 12 princesses which was based on a 16th century anthem by Byrd, the recording of which was sung beautifully by Melissa Lyons and the Women’s Occidental Glee club.

The myth is loosely based on the children’s tale. “Barbie” plays “Princess Genevieve”, the seventh of 12 daughters of a widowed King (e.g. seven young women, plus a pair of twins who appear to be about 11 and a site of triplets who appear to be about 6.) Like the fresh, the myth is about 12 princesses who having been banned from dancing, sneak off every night through a magic passage and remove a magic barge to a special island where they can dance all night. However, in this version the killjoy who tries to cessation them dancing is not the King their father, who loves them very distinguished, but his cousin, Duchess Rowena, who he has brought to the palace to be their tutor. At first even the princesses do not realise quite what a terrible mistake this was …

As with many of the Barbie films, droll relief is provided by talking animal companions of some of the well-known characaters. In this case Princess Genevieve has a pet cat, and the wrong Duchess Rowena has an equally spoiled pet monkey, Brutus. The hero, who in this version is the royal cobbler, Derek, has a pet parrot, who for some reason talks with a greatly exaggerated Indian accent. (That’s Indian from the subcontinent, not native American.)

Those people who relish criticising what the Barbie franchise represents will not have great concern finding things in this production to sneer at. If you, or more importantly your kids, are allergic to an excess of twee sweetness, then this film and the Barbie videos generally may not be for them. And the female characters are all on the thin side of plausibility: I’m not afraid that watching this is going to give my daughter anorexia as she likes food too grand and has a obliging sense of the inequity between fantasy and reality, but if you are timid that your children may be forming an unrealistic conception about how thin a healthy body shape is, that is a distress with this film.

But on the plus side: it is beautifully made, it will gain the attention of most exiguous children for long enough for the typical exhausted parent to obvious the mess they have made in several rooms of the house or collapse for an hour’s rest after doing so. Alternatively there are enough more sophisticated jokes thrown in that you won’t be completely bored to death if you resolve to view it with your offspring. And best of all, the soundtrack is almost worth buying the film for on it’s believe.
