It starts out in the period before Japan invaded China in 1944, and is site up mainly in Ip mans (Donnie Yen) town which had many schools that taught martial arts, basically martial arts was their life, from there on it progresses in a real dawdle to the raze (I dont want to spoil it) .

Blu-ray quality is very estimable, the soundtrack is generous, the fighting is as steady as it gets, and the myth is very ample, it has many ups and downs which makes it an beneficial martial arts-drama-action movie.

Highly recommended( I wouldn’t pay 60$ though!!)

A must-see, no doubt. You might wanna get a cheaper deal though. For me, I wouldn’t pay more than 30 dollars for a movie.

I always dreamed of the day a cartoon adaptation based upon the fresh books would arrive, and now that it has I must say I am not dissapointed. I want to distinct up one major misconception that most seem to bear about this series: this is NOT a revamp. This cartoon has nothing to do with the 80s/90s series (outside of a few jokey references and multi-colored bandanas), it goes succor to the fresh source comics for its stories and inspiration (some influence from the 1st live action film is evident also) . That said, it seems, from reading the reviews of those who detest this exhibit are viewing it in a perspective colored by nostalgia for the primitive cartoon. While all are entitled to their hold belief, you are missing the point if you occupy this to be a “revamp” or “remake” of the ragged indicate. It is like being disappointed that the 1992 Batman cartoon was not faithful to the 1968 Filmation produced series. They both section the same fresh source, but the similarity ends there. They can be forgiven however, b/c most would not except the fresh reveal to have ignored the comics as noteworthy as it did, hence since this one follows it considerable more faithfully it looks alien to those only fimilar with the 80s/90s demonstrate. However, even if you never read the books, I mediate, if you can notion this with an commence mind (and close comparing it to the ragged demonstrate and griping over no Bebop, Krang, etc.) you may like it.

Anyhow this DVD contains the 1st 3 episodes (based upon TMNT #2 and has a scene paying homage to the Purple Dragon brawl from the opening of TMNT #1) of the 4kids produced reveal that takes an opposite reach to the characters of the TMNT humorous universe: In the books there existed groupings of characters (a villan, an ally or allies) that were connected in one plan or another and appeared in the same stories together with the TMNT with few exceptions. Two villians never even appeared in the same declare if my memory serves correctly, nor did a clear ally back fight a different TMNT villian than they were normally associated with, the groupings were always the same. In this recent cartoon we are slowly introduced to a very tight-nit universe where eventually we procure nearly everyone connected in some mysterious or shady procedure and team-ups abound. As such this manages to be both recent and recent while being faithful to both the spirit and stories of the 1980s Mirage comics. I loved seeing some of my well-liked comics being retold in a novel light with twists and surprises and yet level-headed following the stories’ outline. The personalities are taken from the books but borrow from the more refined and inviting (no pun intended) characterazations of the 1st film. Unlike the Fred Wolf series, these turtles are true ninjas and strike out of, and disappear into the shadows. Not fighting in vast daylight like they did constantly in the aged. At the core of this series is the values and virtues of the family unit: brotherhood and father-son relationships, fair like the unusual books. A fan like myself couldn’t have been more satisfied.

The TMNTs and co. are titanic, lean and muscluar and actually explore they could possibly fabricate the feats we look on cover, unlike the previous series’ inflatable-looking puff-balls. The artwork is very frigid, slighty reminiscent of Jim Lawson’s work IMO (one of the most enduring of the turtles’ artists), but is mostly new within itself while tranquil borrowing from anime (like the 1st series, or atleast it’s 1st season) as has been typical for US cartoons for nearly 20 years. The coloring is the art’s best attribute. Heavenly blend of light and dim, with honest enough of that omni-present cartoon lighting in the shadows when they want the viewer to search for what the characters can’t. The gleaming and vibrant contrasting with the dusky brings a unusual dimension to the turtles not seen before, since the comics were almost always in dusky and white and the worn cartoon was not as creative artistically.

OK, enough praise. The reason why I can’t give this 5 stars is the same reason so many others can’t: 3 measley episodes! That’s lawful, even with dual-layer DVD technology available (apparantly not utilized here) that is all we gain. Even without dual-layer we composed could have gotten 5 or 6 episodes. The imprint suggests we should IMO. Anyhow on the intelligent side we do bag a few icy extras: a short interview with co-creator Peter Laird (fans will dig this, others should rep it absorbing as well), a unhurried the scenes peruse at the making of this series (mildly absorbing) and a recognize at how one of the fight sequences went from storyboard to finished product (frosty for anyone involved in the animation process) . The other extras either handsome mighty amount to commercials for related products or actually are commericals. Lastly, the transfer is quite profitable. Sound is loud and distinct and the report is enthralling and certain. Really looks and sounds “DVD.”

Bottom line: At this note, for a stingy 3 episodes, as valid as they are, this is not worth it. My advice would be to either net this ragged at a comely effect or impartial bag them in reruns on Foxbox and Cartoon Network.

Cartoons – 10/10

DVD – 5/10

This dvd is an helpful introduction to the recent exciting series. The animation is crisp and the storyline is absorbing. These aren’t your pizza crazy goofball ninja turtles from the veteran series, these turtles have illustrious personalities. Leo is the uptight leader, Raph the rebel hothead, Don the nerdy technogeek, and Mikey the comical relief (filling in that niche of humor so prevailent in the worn cartoon) . In addition to the expedient character development, the fresh series follows the the unique comics noteworthy closer, and thus presents a continuing and spellbinding site. This dvd is a must have for any hardcore tmnt fan!

Energizing and encouraging! Astounding gawk into the history of tap and how sizable to retain going no matter how conventional one gets. I study at this over and over again. These dark women dancers had to attach up with a lot, but they are not space on how hard it was. They are continuing on and teaching all of us about the wonders and joys of tap dancing. Even the spiciness is done with class.

I saw this film in a premier showing with the film maker and three of the Silver Belles demonstrate. The film was most absorbing and touching as you trudge relieve in time with these unbelievable, fiesty women. Their lives have been filled with struggles, triumphs and finally, well deserved recongnition. The audience laughed at their wit and marvelled at the record of their lives. They started their careers as very young women who were given a shot at expose business in the 1930’s in the hot spots of Harlem during it’s Golden Age. The Cotton Club and the Apollo Theatre were their homes for many years. All of them give gigantic credit to those who taught them ‘the ropes’. They are unexcited busy performing and passing along the heart of dance to the young dancers who are coming up today. I felt privileged to be taken on their prance and found myself, along with the rest of the audience, laughing at their tales of the used days and being touched with sadness at their losses and struggles. Better than being called ’survivors’ they can be called triumphant and dauntless. The sound track was fantastic and had everyone’s feet tapping along. If you like dance, music, history, biography, demonstrate business or fair a vast tale, I mediate you will thoroughly like this film.

Watched with my teenager and found this to be a very nice review of Nelson Mandela’s life. Starts with how he was raised and educated to be the assistant to a village chief through his election as President of South Africa. The initial focus on how he was raised and interviews with his sister and others who know him gave ample insight into his character that made him such a fighter for justice and tall leader.

Specifically, the narritive trot was capable, and it gave persons a diagram to look the developement of Nelson Mandela and the freedom movement in South Africa. The statement that there was not alot about De Klerk, I also agree in substance and tone. De Klerk appeared commensurate to what Nelson Mandela had been saying all of his life, that he was always against racism, no pro one ethnic group or the other. This is something that De Klerk was not committed to from the beginning of his life apparently, and he, like Pharoah in Egypt, saw the writing on the wall with respect to the newness that was coming. Nonetheless, when Freedom finally came to South Africa, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who I know personnally, led all of us in a hand clap for Mr. De Klerk. This myth, was about Nelson Mandela finally, not about Mr. De Klerk, and hence I didn’t fetch the inclusion of De Klerk or the amount of time that he appeared, particularly out of balance with the main drive of the record.

If you’re looking for a Mobile Suit Gundam box station, this is it. Too terrible it’s a Chinese bootleg. If you don’t train Japanese but, for some reason, unruffled want to explore the reveal in Japanese, search for elsewhere, the subtitles are snide and the video is muddy. If you want to survey the present in English, you’ll glean nicer looking video, but with slightly queer transitions between episodes. Of course, there are no special features, but the case is nice.

All in all, it’s a generous value, if you don’t mind bootlegs.

You accumulate all the episodes from the unusual gundam 0079 series. You find the intro, and closing impartial once on each disc. Being the intro themes from the begining episode at the originate, and the last episode has the closing themes on each disk. But all the episodes are intact. The very last disk at the slay it has some extras. Like some of the current marketing trailers of the display, and the intro and the closing without credits. It has the english dub from the cartoon network done by vancouver, canada ocean group. Fresh Japanese audio as well with the english subtitles but the english substitles aren’t done too well. Chinese subtitles are also included. I give this chinese bootleg four stars.

I got the zeta gundam complete series chinese bootleg the other day. Well all that it is missing is the 2nd half of the 7 th seventh episode after the commercial demolish. I felt a bit poor cause I missed the dramatic battle scene between Kamille and Lila. It honest jumps to the next episode. It’s the only minor direct. The rest of the other episodes are all intact. All having the intro and closings. But the intro and closing don’t have the 80’s j-pop current music. It has the same same recent instrumental music from the bandai box site release a couple of years ago due to copyrights. The english dub is done by blue ocean group in calgary canada. There’s the orginal japanese audio with english subtitles and chinese subtitles. No extras though. I give it a four. Would of been a 4 and a half if the whole 7th episode was included. But I can’t ask for too great since they are cheap bootlegs. You can earn these cheaper if you recognize on ebay. That’s if you don’t mind a cheap bootleg.

My daughter Molly loved “Owen” when I bought it for her a year ago. Then I got “Chrysanthemum”, then more and more of Henkes’ wonderfully exquisite, stupendously toothsome, magnificently trustworthy books. Molly liked them so considerable, she wanted to rent the video… fair assuming EVERYTHING must be available as a video!! Honorable news, Molly. Now it is!

Of course, when I saw this DVD, I had to order it immediately. I was afraid that it would fair be pictures from the book with a big-name guest reading the narrative. I’m jubilant to say that I was immoral! The animation is simple, flowing gently like Henkes’ illustrations. Meryl Streep’s reading is a reflection of her famous talent. She and Sarah Jessica Parker give the readings actual heart.

5-year stale Molly gives this DVD 5-stars, and so does 8-year conventional grand brother. (And he’s a Yu-gi-oh playing, GameBoy-toting, sports-playing “tough guy”!!! It proves that Henkes brings out a gentle humor in everyone!)

Sorry to gush, but this DVD is worth twice what I paid for it. In fact, I unprejudiced ordered 2 more for gifts. I objective hope they follow up with a “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse” DVD. Or–heaven forbid–a TV indicate! If you liked the “Minute Beget” cartoons, you’ll like these.

My 4 year venerable daughter loves all of Henkes’ books so when I saw there was a DVD out there with 3 of his stories I snatched it up. Talk about a 3 time winner in our home. My daughter LOVES this DVD, it’s her celebrated amongst all the other scholastic videos we enjoy and I can perceive why. Meryl Streep and Sarah Jessica Parker do a fantastic job narrating. I would care for to gaze Sheila Rae the Gallant, Chester’s Contrivance and any other Henkes book compiled into another DVD.

You secure 6 stories: Chrysanthemum, Owen, A Weekend with Wendell (all Henkes), The Picnic, Monty and The Wizard for an hour of scrumptious stories. I highly recommend the DVD for young kids.

“As Good As It Gets” is a rarity among today’s movies, a truly witty and poignant romantic comedy with an unusual protagonist. That protagonist is Melvin, played with relish by Jack Nicholson. Melvin is a highly successful novelist who is also an abrasive misanthrope suffering from severe obsessive-compulsive disorder. (Not your typical hero for sure!)

Buy,Download, Or Stream As Good As It Gets! Click Here

As one would expect, Melvin is a recluse and resistant to any changes in his life until he is forced to interact with a down-on-his-luck gay neighbor, Simon, portrayed by Greg Kinnear, and Simon’s perky little pet pooch, Verdell. Melvin also becomes reluctantly involved with the pretty and patient waitress Carol, played by Helen Hunt, who serves him breakfast every day at a local cafe. Other than Carol, none of the other cafe’s employees will deal with the impossible Melvin.

When Carol abruptly quits her job, Melvin tracks her down and offers her financial incentives to return to her post. Melvin increasingly finds himself drawn into Carol’s personal life, and he eventually falls for the plucky single mom.

“As Good As It Gets” is a quirky update of the fable “Beauty and the Beast”. Gifted writer-director James L. Brooks has assembled a superb cast to re-tell this classic tale. Besides the pitch perfect lead performances by Nicholson, Hunt, and Kinnear, there are sparkling supporting performances by Cuba Gooding Jr., Shirley Knight and others.

Too many of today’s so-called comedies are mindless, uninspired concoctions profuse with sophomoric vulgarities and sexual obscenities. “As Good As It Gets” reminds us that there are still a few determined filmmakers willing to bring qualities such as intelligence, inventiveness, sophistication, and charm back to the silver screen. It is a shame that there are not more artists like these to inspire and entertain much-deprived audiences.

Another reviewer comments that the events in this film conspire to make Jack Nicholson (or rather Melvyn Udall) a human being. On the contrary, this is a film where the central character, an obsessive-compulsive bigot, is human from the start: We just don’t realize it. A key moment in the film is when Simon, Melvin’s gay neighbour (Greg Kinnear), is telling the young male prostitute, Vincent (Skeet Ulrich), about his art, and comments that he likes to watch people because sometimes, when you look at someone long enough, “you see their humanity.” At that point Vincent is momentarily enabled to see something beyond the seedy world of male prostitution; at the same time Simon gives us the interpretive key to the whole movie. It is a film about three very different people who discover their common humanity.

Melvin is a hateful and insensitive recluse with a debilitating mental disorder; Carol (Helen Hunt), a Manhattan waitress struggling with her son’s chronic illness and finding her identity swallowed up in the process; Simon, a gay artist who loses everything when he is attacked and robbed in his own home. One by one they must learn to see the humanity in each other and, as importantly, in themselves (”Where’d I go?” asks Simon as he looks at the reflection of his battered face in the mirror). We, too, must learn to see the human being underneath the spiteful and vicious (if somewhat the “loveable rogue”) in Melvin.

The theme is developed sensitively and beautifully throughout the course of the film (perhaps only slightly overlong at more than two hours), with help coming from a fourth character, Verdelle, a dog, whose pivotal role in the narrative is easily overlooked (standing in the same cinematic tradition as Toto of “The Wizard of Oz”). By the end of the film, we are aware that the big issues in the character’s lives are still to be totally overcome, but the process of resolution has begun as it should, with the characters each recognizing the dignity and worth of the others (and themselves).

James L. Brook’s delicate direction carefully avoids excessive sentimentalism and saccharine sweetness (though admittedly, it teeters perilously close to the edge at times), and results in one of the most charming and profound comedies of recent years.

I always like Tom Selleck movies. Some are actually very entertaining. This is by far his best dramatic role. I was very impressed how well he played the part of a framed Airline crew chief Jimmie Rainwood. F. Murray Abraham gives a great performance as one of the prison inmates, Virgil Cane, that befriends him. It has all the elements for some good drama, bad cops, drugs, decent and really bad convicts, attractive loving wife, and motive for revenge.

David Rasche and Richard Young do a fine job as the crooked detectives that frame him. I have recommended this to many people since many Selleck fans are not even aware of it. Whether you like Selleck or not you will enjoy this film if you like movies like “The Fugitive”,”US Marshals”, and “Shawshank Redemption”. It is being released on DVD soon and you can bet I pre-ordered a copy.

Even though you know what’s going to happen to Tom Selleck’s character, and you know that the ending will be happy, watching the process is enjoyably discomfiting. This is a plot film — stuff keeps happening to the main character, things he appears utterly incapable of controlling, and everything spirals right into disaster. Great Friday night fare. Make a lot of popcorn and savor it.

Without a doubt “The Mountain” made in 1956 is my all-time favorite film, mainly because of Spencer Tracy the all-time greatest Hollywood actor. There are many special qualities that this movie possesses which might not be appreciated after the first viewing. While watching notice that before any intros are displayed, the opening scene wastes little time showing a plane in distress which then crashes, with great visual and audio effects, on top of a mountain. The two main characters (Spencer Tracy as “Zachary Teller” and Robert Wagner as “Christopher Teller”) are brothers that for reasons of good vs. evil decide to climb the mountain to reach the wreck of the crashed airliner. This becomes the basis of a fabulous and unusual plot packed with emotion, adventure and spiritual meaning. Zachary wants to help Chris climb due to the danger and the love for his brother but Chris wants to climb to take the dead passenger’s possessions and escape his life as a simple farm hand. One cannot help but identify with Zachary’s struggle to convince Chris that what he is doing is wrong as indicated by the following line stated before the climb began: “You want me to take you up to the top of the mountain in the sight of God so that you can pick the pockets of dead people? Isn’t there anything inside of you that tells you its wrong?” Chris then responds “I’d do worse than that to get out of here”, thereby setting the stage for a “clash of wills”. For those who have not seen the film I will not say how it ends as I wish that all who read this review who have not seen it can one day give it a look. It has beautiful scenery of the French Alps and the countryside as well. Enjoy and God bless.

Great curios of the cartoon world. Be warned, though, some of these cartoons are of dubious quality, and many of them don’t make any sense. That’s part of the reason why they’re so charming! I particularly enjoyed Sniffy Escapes Poisoning, a PSA cautioning children against using pharmaceuticals in which pills sing and dance. Joi De Vivre was a real surprise on the compilation. This beautiful and surreal short is a also great example of art nouveau. Highly recommended to anyone interested in animation history!
